Simple Little Touches

I love to add some of my creative touches into my decorating. Since I've been such an uninspired blogger this last week I figured I'd share a couple of ways that I've added my own crafty touch to our decor.
I made this one years ago. My first canvas I ever created I think. It was one I was just playing around with and I ended up loving it. When I did this frame collage on the wall going up my stairs I had recently unearthed it from some deep corner of a closet. I wanted to put it somewhere, anywhere but in another box so I hung it here. I've loved it ever since and I love that I'm able to share some of our history and the way the picture made me feel as I was creating it.(its one of our engagement pictures) Also it was perfect because the colors tie right in with the rest of my downstairs. I love when you find unexpected surprises when you in the middle of decorating something! This was one of them.
By the way..as I'm looking at this picture I'm reminded of another way to add a fun touch if you feel like you just need that added pop. I loved that black and white paper that was in my mile high stack of scrapbooking paper (I have a slight fetish for scrapbook paper) and thought it would look great on my wall. So I added it to an already matted frame and I loved how it broke up my picture collage with its fun look. I loved it so much I added another! This is a shelf in our master bath that hung empty for months. I found the 'happily ever after' sign while browsing one of those fun, small shops at the beach. I instantly fell in love with it and had to have it. This is where it ended up but I wanted something to go with it and had gotten so excited and inspired after seeing the photo block idea in one of my Making Memories idea books. Here is what I came up with. So simple and fast to make. This is my favorite side..most likely because it is a favorite picture of ours.
And here are 2 other sides out of the 5 I had decorated. Just a super simple, fun project that finished off what that lil sign was waiting for!
