Nostalgia

Oh the joy, innocence, faith that this boy holds. To watch him live is to watch life out loud, boundless, open, free. He has a wild, passionate, stubborn spirit that I can only admire.

Having just turned three, he is in the midst of topsy turvy, treacherous, turbulant, sometimes terrible, thrilling toddlerhood. For some reason the first time I saw that saying on the pic above, it just made me think of him. Watching him tonight as he danced to 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' as it played on a commercial, I just had to smile. (haha!!) But it was the kind of smile that filled me to overflowing. Maybe I'm feeling nostaligic because he just turned 3. I wonder where that little boy just learning to walk went, the one who was never seen without a binky in his mouth. I lay next to him now and realize he is half as tall as me, I hear him talk and sometimes what comes out of his mouth is too wise for his small age, I watch him play and am thankful for the imagination he was blessed with, I see him dance and want to feel that free, I watch him learn and marvel at how he absorbs knowledge. He is what me and my sister, Nancy, laugh and call 'a free spirit'. Sometimes we do wonder why other peoples kids aren't quite as active, crazy and full of vinegar.(Maybe they are..we just don't see them 24/7!!) But then I just remind myself that God created him to be that way for the purpose He has for him! I listen to his little voice in the background mimicking everything his hero daddy says and my cup overflows.

I can assure you there is another extremely active, "full of vinegar" free spirit over here in Michigan. :) He's four can throw a fit that would blow you away - but also melt your heart in a second. :)

I love my Jay like crazy, and it sure sound like Talon is a whole lot like him. Part of me smiles and thinks how fun it would be to get them together. Part of me thinks - could we handle that????? :)

This was a beautiful post!! I love to get to know you as a mommy. You are a wonderful one!!
